Family ties are one of the most powerful levers an establishment has. Maintaining them reduces reoffending, supports rehabilitation and eases the transition back into society, yet distance, cost and busy or restricted phone lines make regular contact difficult for many families. Every contact channel in a secure setting must also remain firmly under the establishment's control.
Purple Visits is Made Purple's secure video calling platform and was the very first video calling solution approved by the UK Ministry of Justice. Facial verification and automated account validation ensure residents speak only to approved contacts, while secure, controlled video calls give residents a glimpse into the family home, supplementing face-to-face visits rather than replacing them.
Purple Visits also modernises the social visits process itself. Families request and book visits through a user friendly app available in many languages, with the option to pre-book and pay for cafe orders online, while staff manage schedules, capacity and approvals from a single dashboard, freeing officer time for the hands-on work that matters.

During the pandemic Purple Visits was deployed across the entire UK prison estate and it has facilitated more than 1,000,000 secure monitored video calls. Today it is available in all private sector prisons in England and Wales as well as in the Isle of Man and Jersey. At HMP Parc it forms part of the largest in-cell technology deployment in the UK private prison estate while at HMP Dovegate families book social visits online and staff manage schedules, capacity and approvals from a single dashboard.
