Born from a Real Problem
Made Purple was founded in 2018 by George Kyriacou to solve a specific problem: families in the Channel Islands couldn't visit loved ones in custody because of the distance from the UK mainland. The emotional and financial burden of travel made regular contact almost impossible.
George built Purple Visits as the answer: a secure video calling platform that started with just two sites. It meant families could see their loved ones face to face, without the long and costly journey.
What began as a single product for a handful of families has grown into a comprehensive suite of 14 secure digital services, trusted by the Ministry of Justice, NHS and private sector operators across the UK, including the largest in-cell technology deployment in the UK private prison estate at HMP Parc.
